I often find myself wondering how I can find Christ in the midst of my everyday tasks: toddler breakdowns, poopy diapers, trips to the park, or cleaning up a (very unnecessary) mess for the umpteenth time.
I wonder the same when I dive into the subjects that I enjoy for my work and play: exercise and nutrition. Where is Christ in this, how do I exemplify Christ, and how does this narrative fit into a Christ-like walk besides the overused 1 Corinthians 6:19 "my body is a temple to the Holy Spirit."?
As I've mulled over this question in the past months and years, a few verses have come to mind:
1 Corinthians 10:31 So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.
Here are a couple of my thoughts that I've narrowed down from these verses:
1.) All good things are from above. I've listened to reputable sources which describe Hell, not so much as a place of misery and anguish, but as a place that is absent of God. Which means that the only thing keeping Earth from actually being Hell is God's good gifts: reflections of himself. (You can listen to a podcast episode on it below) Essentially, all things that we enjoy (within the confines of scripture) can glorify God and can be an expression of our worship because all good things are from him.

2.) Whatever we do, we should be doing our best for God's glory. Since everything can be, and is, an expression of worship, (if within the confines of scripture and with a right heart) then small, everyday tasks are forms of glorification to God if we do it for the right reason(s), with our hearts in the right place.
3.) Psalm 8 says that God has made us "a little lower than the angels."
I just don't think that God is being glorified when we play small. I think that looks different for every person on their journey of sanctification, but I know that if exercise or nutrition is an obstacle (feeling addicted to food, hating your body, seeing exercise as a punishment for things that you ate), you're not free to glorify God in all aspects; your mind is constantly drawn away by this aspect. "...let us throw off everything that hinders..."
Hebrews 12:1
4.) Eric Liddell said "I believe God made me for a purpose. But he also made me fast, and when I run, I feel his pleasure."
God gave us some things to enjoy just for enjoyment of His gifts and I believe proper exercise and nutrition are some of those things.
So, there you have it! This is how I view proper and healthy exercise and nutrition, and how I think it can be helpful for all of us to view it in light of the resurrection.

Happy Easter! I hope you all had a weekend full of love with family and friends, celebrating the hope that our Savior has given us through his sinless life, and his death, burial, and resurrection!
This is the reason for our hope. 1 Peter 3:15
